Gresford Lads' - 3 Peaks Challenge - 2010. Welcome!

The Three Peaks Challenge is a demanding race against time event; that tests the fittness of all who undertake to climb and descend the three highest mountain peaks in England Scotland & Wales within a 24 hour time-limit. A team of nine young men from Gresford, Nr Wrexham intend to undertake this challenge to help raise charitable funds as a heart-felt tribute to their young friend, Jon Ratcliffe who sadly died in 2008:
Wyn Jones - Kevin Todd - Russ Pritchard - Craig Williams - Matt Nicholas - Hugh Jones - Ant McAllister - Phil Jones - Chris Newman intend to attempt this challenge starting on Thursday 3rd June 2010 and finishing within 24 hours on Friday 4th June 2010.

Just how much of a challenge is it?

The following timings are based on a 24 hour schedule (North to South), and acknowledge an average walker becoming slightly fatigued as, The National 3 Peaks Challenge, progresses. If attempting just one hill we would expect to achieve these times:

  • Ben Nevis - Scotland - 5 hours
  • Scafell (Wasdale) - England - 4 hours
  • Snowdon - Wales - 4 hours
As you can see, the three UK mountains traversed at a brisk walking pace could add up to 13 hours, plus our 11 hour transit journey by car, and we're right on the limit of our 24 hour challenge time!     Ben Nevis - 1344m     Scafell Pike - 978m     Snowdon - 1085m

  • Yes, it's going to be a real challenge, with real pain, made easier with your donation!
