Russ Pritchard
My name is Russ Pritchard but otherwise known around the village and far beyond as Duster. Why? Well it goes back as far as primary school days with it being shortened for something that myself and others could not pronounce. I’ve lived in the village of Gresford for 27years until 2006 and have since jumped ship and moved to Borras. I am 100% supportive in raising money for such an important and worth while charity such as the Bobby Moore bowel cancer fund. Unfortunately due to a past football injury where my knee has had a reconstruction then I am not able to take part in the 3 peak challenge but have volunteered to be Des for the 24 hour trip. My role will be to transport the lads in one of the mini buses to the three destinations ensuring they are fed, watered and have enough rest from country to country. Whilst the individual challenges are tackled by the group being led by Wyn and Hugh who will be charged up and raring to go like lions being let out of Chester zoo I will be sitting relaxing with a few cans and a cigar. I will put the stove on half an hour before they return from the respective mountains heating up the chilli and the vindaloo and of course the pasta.
I will be sitting reminiscing with Mr. Ratcliffe about the times at Darland School and still debating the time he sent me home and suspended me for an incident that this day I still dispute. Hopefully after a few cans consumed by us both he will rescind the event and my school record will be wiped clean. Iam looking forward to the challenge and I have to stress that the key important people in this event are the lads who are taking on this difficult challenge. I will be willing and supporting them every step of the way and I will personally ensure they are delivered to every country equipped and ready for the task ahead. There may be a few minor obstacles in achieving this statement such as our beloved friends in blue but I am sure they will forgive and forget and be moved on in a positive manner, well at least until we get out of sight. I predict that at the end of the 24hour trip I will have more points than Manchester United.
Finally I take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported in past events and of course this event which is probably the most challenging and difficult one to date the lads are to face. I also wish Wyn, Hugh, Loz, Crag, Kev, Phil, Newman and Ant all the very best of luck and how much Iam looking forward to my minor task compared to them and hope that the success brings its reward which is of course the Bobby Moore bowel cancer fund. Kind Regards, Duster.
Thank you.
